Reflections
Mirror, mirror
on the wall
Why do you
lie to me?
You reflect
what you think you see,
And yet
I know it is not me.
What is
it that causes you to see
That which
is not me,
But just
a reflection of light,
Which is
but a shadow of the real me.
Can you not
see that which lies beneath?
Can you
not see the real me?
You reflect
only the superficial aspects
What about
the feelings and senses of my soul?
How can I
strip away the surface
So you can
reflect that which is my thoughts?
How can
I show you that what you see
Is but a
shadow of the true me?
I look at
you hanging there,
Gleaming
in the light.
I see what
you are,
And yet
you don't see me.
Why cannot
you reflect my soul?
What is
it that restricts you so?
I stand
before you as I am,
And yet
you refuse to acknowledge my reality.
Mirror, mirror,
I think you are unkind,
You also
have a soul inside you.
Perhaps
what I see is but a reflection
Of your
image, not mine at all.
