Awakening
As sleep slowly departs
My eyelids lift
And see the daylight
Of a new dawn.
My mind awakes,
Regards the world
And on silver wings
Grasps at the new day.
I let it wander
In all its wonder,
There is nothing yet
To still my fleeting thoughts.
May the day I face
Bring joy and peace
And in some way
Make the sorrows of the world decrease.
