The Watch On Venus
(Part Five)

For the first time in the history of Venus,
The turmoil below is greater than the turmoil above.
They're killing each other down there,
And we're powerless to stop it; all we've
Managed to achieve so far has been to send
Nine friends to their deaths.
The Greys have seen it all before, twice.
They saw it happen on Mars, they saw it
On Earth. We know they intervened successfully
On both occasions, so why are they sitting back now,
Calmly watching Venus tearing itself to pieces,
Doing nothing while we die trying?

-----------------------------------------------------

The Grey is crying.
Tears from his great almond eyes,
Well and overflow to his soft cheeks,
Lingering briefly before falling.

Reverence of Pure Greys prevents any
Others from offering comfort, as if there were any
To offer. Only the Greys know that Venus will never
Complete the cycle. There is no comfort in that.

Still, we do what we must. The Grey knows nothing
Of the deaths, although the Martians have sung to him.
We have maybe two thousand years at best,
To make contact.

--------------------------------------------------------

Black upon black, darkness incarnate approaches.
The Grey Mothership alone is equipped to sense
These anomalies. And it does.
It appears we are soon to have visitors.
