A wise man once said,
"It's an ill wind that blows nobody
any good".
Then he said,
"Every cloud has a silver lining",
and
"When one door closes, another opens",
and then he died.
Alas, poor Yorick, we miss you. But your words
are particularly appropriate - if a bit trite - when applied to Scribble
on the Net.
See, it was not so long ago that people used to
dial in to their local BBS and send in their poems and stuff for others
to see and evaluate, and to comment on the works of others, and generally
interact in a really positive kind of way. Scribble has always been one
of these places, and while the main Scribble FIDONET echo is still going
strong, the means to access it are diminishing almost daily. As you'll
read inside, local dialup BBSs are dropping like flies as their users head
for the internet in droves....
But wait! As the wise man said,
"He who hesitates is lost" -
which contradicts his
"Look before you leap"
to an extent, but you get that on the big jobs.
Anyway, the crafty Scribbly people decided it
would be a smart move to bring the mountain to Mohammed, so they did.
Hi, Mohammed,
welcome to Scribble on the Net!
