Hope

Into the eternal forest of birdsong
Why the tui the one that cries in sorrow
Melancholy days the bird feels all wrong
A quiet place by the river the tui will borrow
Fallen in a steep place by the trees
A forest calls with me you will walk
To a dark place dancing on its knees
To a place of a thousand tears where a river does talk
Trees their leaves shed once again
Wither on the ground they fall and die
Deathly silence a song cannot be seen
Today the rise of a new sky
On the fallen bird the rays do shine
Tui a song telling of the rays
A forest will heal
Sadness will a life no longer pine
Deathly leaves a forest will not be the days
I will leave the river of the cold flow
The sun will show me the way
Out of the forest dark
The tui has flown
Today I will not return
Again.
