Listening
To Shadows
Do you hear the
shadows?
hear them climbing
up the walls?
dark as night,
left by light,
Talking to each
other.
Do you hear the
shadows?
Hear them running
down the halls?
tall as the sky
or low they lie
squatting on the
floor.
Do I hear the shadows?
Hear their ghostly
calls,
their little shrieks
their moans and
creaks,
Yes, I hear them
with my eyes.
To hear them you
must see them,
To see them you
must look,
To look you must
know of
The shape your
shadow took.
When you see a
shadow
It holds an object's
form,
Distorted and
contorted
A shape not of
the norm.
A 2 dimensional
image
cast by lack of
light,
imagine it in
3-d
now you've got
it right.
Look what it is
doing,
Watch how the
shadow moves,
Slow as the sun
goes by,
or fast like galloping
hooves?
Think about what
it's touching
as it scrapes
along,
on pavement or
on wood
they make a different
song.
So you can hear
a shadow,
I'm glad of what
you've found,
But now could
you please help me?
I want to see
a sound.
