No love poetry please!

I do not dash off love poems!
Because there 're already too many around
I would rather write about clouds
That bounce serenely along an oiled sky
Or night swim to gather ideas in my head
Before reading pages of short stories
To dine from their printed treat
Pickling the sentenced lines which drop
off one page to systematically form
another

I do not write love poems!
Because who is really going to care
I would rather read Kipling's rattle tattle
Making barrack ballads of my own
Then stage a drama about life
Inking recycled paper under angle poised lamp
Laughing at passion blues that drop
like emotional lead sinkers off fishing
lines of hope

I would rather not recite love poems!
Here nor there or on an open mike
I would sooner visit Franz Josef or Fox
Enjoying the clear cool bigger picture
Then return home to whistle up some lines
That don't include the L word or the S word
Just natural humility to show that all is fine.
