You Are Beautiful

Standing there, lingering innocence
About to fly to womanhood
Child's smile on luscious lips
Eyes sparkling with life untasted
No bitterness on your sweet tongue
Which sings to me of dreams to come
Like petals moist with morning dew
Awaiting to unfold in love's real light
Raising your slender arm
Sheltering your wide open eyes
From the brightness of the day
With tender palm turned outward
I see your life line long
Your future bold and daring
Fragile fingers push back auburn strands
You turn to me with such joy of living
Shining into every shadowed space around us
And you tell me in soft words that
You wish to live forever
