Beltane Fires

Through the fire of Beltane pyres,
     prances and dances
          liars with lances.
With backward glances of desire,
     they take their chances
          with the maidens’ ire.
And in the spires of the fire,
     romance enhances
          though the drum and lyre.
Bodies perspire - then transpires -
     passions advances
          these liars’ lances.
Admire that which inspires -
     Beltane fires, romances,
          and the maidens’ ire.
