Rainbow

As the sunlight streams,
Through the gaping curtain,
And reaches in to touch his skin,
The child awakens, eyes wide,
Absorbing all that he sees.

As the raindrops cascade,
From the charcoal ceiling,
The old man's head rests,
He breathes deeply,
Then gasps no more.

During one lifetime,
From whence we came,
Till time stands still,
We will experience life,
However complete,
Adorned with the brightest rainbow.
