Loving and Liking

He was hard man was my Dad - inflexible
Inflexible and old - a No was a No, a Yes was a Yes
Worked underground all his life, hewing coal
He became their underviewer and never took shite
For boxes filled they were paid, bullshit got nothing
Nothing but a NO and a gleam of teeth from Bill
No argument, No loud words, just NO
Born in the days when people were known
By the cut of their jib
Some people are hard to like some are not
My Dad was one, hard to like, love is something else.
