Ouroubouros
POEM OF THE MONTH
Then spare a thought for me.
Every week, for a month
my head is lost - Bowden

                                         This muse meant,
that of a moment year swallowed hollow year
might make, or time everlasting might
right singly turn and make time waster master,
            tail swallowed snake.

So turn, this turn, thus all
return, and by the hour's confusion wrought,
might turn such all to some unending nought..

The illustration of the 'Uroboros' is a meditation by the Christian mystic Jacob Boehme (1575-1642) published in his Theosophische Werke, (Amsterdam 1682). It is Plate 9 in the outstanding work, The Psychology of C.G. Jung, (Yale University Press, London, New Haven,1973) by Jolande Jacobi.
